The surf film has been an integral part of the surfing experience for over five decades. And whether it's a VFW Hall stop on a film tour, with the filmmaker narrating, or throwing the DVD into your laptop on a flight to Bali, it still remains the best medium of stoke.

For over a year, Cardiff, CA surfer Steve Lawrence documented the lives of four professional surfers for the electrifying epic Down the Barrel, ESPN's first full-length surf feature. He lived, traveled, filmed, surfed, ate, and rapped with them, capturing their relationship with the sport from tense competition situations to their inspiration and free form philosophizing.
