Jax Beach Pier

Thu Aug 28, 2008 at 11:59AM
| Time: | 07:51 AM | Cond: | Clean |
|
| Surf: | 1-2ft+ | Crowd: | 10-15 surfers | |
| Wind: | Calm | Tides: | L11:59AM - H07:01PM |
THURS AM: Super clean... inconsistent, but still ridable on the sets. Knee to thigh high with plus sets possible... maybe a few inches larger than yesterday am at report time. Nothing epic, but probably worth a surf check if you have the morning off. Looks like we will continue to see marginally ridable ESE backgroundswell through tomorrow, then a slight drop off expected over the weekend. TROPICS: Gustav is still at TS status, but is expected to strengthen over the next few days as it enters the Gulf. Further out, we may have another ESE swell producer for early next week. A lot going on in the tropics, stay tuned.

| Time: | 01:30 PM | Cond: | Clean |
|
| Surf: | 1-2ft+ | Crowd: | 15-20 surfers | |
| Wind: | SW 5 mph | Tides: | L11:38AM - H06:04PM |
WED PM: Super clean... but looks like it lost some size since this morning. Knee to thigh high with a rare plus set. Just barely breaking on the outside sandbar, fading out... then breaking again on the inside shorepound. Possibly some slight improvement this afternoon as the tide fills back in. Looks like we will continue to see marginally ridable ESE backgroundswell through Friday, then a slight drop off expected over the weekend. TROPICS: Gustav is back down to TS status, but is expected to strengthen over the next few days as it enters the Gulf. Further out, we may have another ESE swell producer for early next week. A lot going on in the tropics, stay tuned.

WED AM: We still have some ridable surf out there this morning. Knee to thigh high with an occasional plus set. Clean conditions, but breaking a little fast at report time. Jax Beach Pier

Tue Aug 26, 2008 at 06:08PM
| Time: | 02:05 PM | Cond: | Semi-Clean |
|
| Surf: | 2-3ft | Crowd: | 10-15 surfers | |
| Wind: | ESE 4 mph | Tides: | L10:35AM - H05:01PM |
TUES PM: We still have some decent surf out there this afternoon. Knee to thigh high with an occasional plus set. Definitely some more ESE backgroundswell out there with a light onshore texture on it at report time. Looks like we should continue to see ridable ESE backgroubndswell for the majority of the week. TROPICS: Our 7th named storm formed overnight, Gustav, and is already hurricane status with 90mph max sus winds. Gustav's current forecasted track takes it into the Gulf over the weekend. Stay tuned for more details on that as they develop.

TUES AM: We still have ridable surf out there this morning. Knee to thigh high with an occasional plus set still possible. Only 2 guys out on the South side at report time so it was looking fairly inviting. Mon Aug 25, 2008 at 05:11PM

|
| Surf: | 1-2ft+ | Crowd: | 15-20 surfers | |
| Wind: | ESE 2 mph | Tides: | L09:30AM - H03:52PM |
Mon PM: The size hasn't really come up a whole lot since this morning... but there are still a few fun sets coming in. Decent shape right now with a light onshore wind. We could still see some improvement over the next hour or so as the tide fills in... unless the onshore winds pick up too much. Overall I'd say it's worth a check sooner than later. Looks like we should also continue to see ridable ESE backgroubndswell for the majority of the week.
